19–22 May 2025

Capital Food Company is always on the lookout for premium, innovative products to bring to the Malaysian market. In line with this mission, our team recently embarked on a four-day business trip to Australia to connect with key suppliers, explore new product opportunities, and strengthen existing partnerships.

From wine estates to health conscious beverage brands, every stop reinforced our commitment to delivering quality and diversity to our customers. Here’s a recap of our productive and inspiring journey

19 May – De Bortoli Wines & Costco Australia

We kicked off our visit in style at De Bortoli Wines, one of Australia’s most respected family-owned wineries. Located in the heart of the Yarra Valley, the visit gave us an in-depth understanding of their wine-making process and sustainable practices. We had fruitful discussions around introducing premium De Bortoli wines to the Malaysian market, with a focus on varietals that align with the preferences of local consumers.

Later that day, we visited Costco Australia, where we reviewed retail and bulk product trends. This provided valuable insights into Australian consumer behaviour and retail packaging standards. We also explored potential product lines that could complement our offerings back home.

20 May – Baxters & Coles Group

On the second day, we met with representatives from Baxters, a leading producer of soups, chutneys, and condiments. The team presented a range of innovative products, and we discussed options for exclusive distribution in Malaysia. There’s exciting potential here for healthy and gourmet offerings tailored to today’s discerning consumers.

Our afternoon was spent with the Coles Group, one of Australia’s largest supermarket chains. This visit offered insights into retail supply chain efficiency, sustainable sourcing, and private label product development. We left with fresh ideas for adapting Australian best practices to the Malaysian retail environment.

21 May – Nexba & Spiral Foods

Day three brought us to Nexba, a trailblazer in naturally sugar-free beverages. Their focus on gut health, natural ingredients, and functional drinks aligns perfectly with the growing wellness trend in Malaysia. We’re exploring partnership opportunities that could introduce Malaysian consumers to Nexba’s innovative product line.

Next, we visited Spiral Foods, known for their organic and wholefood offerings. From sauces to pantry staples, Spiral’s commitment to quality and clean-label ingredients impressed us. Discussions cantered around expanding the range of organic, plant-based products available in Malaysia through our distribution network.

22 May – Borland & Golden Crunch

We concluded our trip with two final supplier meetings. Borland, with their impressive portfolio showcased several exciting products such as premium butter biscuits and freeze dried cheese that could fill niche gaps in Malaysia’s convenience food segment.

Our last stop was Golden Crunch, where we explored their range of high quality macadamia products. These items are in high demand in the Malaysian market, and we’re currently evaluating several SKUs for import.

Looking Ahead

This trip reaffirmed Capital Food Company’s dedication to innovation, sustainability, and quality. We’re excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to introducing a fresh wave of Australian products to our customers in Malaysia.

Stay tuned—big things are coming!
